About the Workshop

Highly sensitive children often experience the world with heightened emotional depth, empathy, and sensory awareness. While these traits can be powerful strengths, they can also lead to overwhelm, anxiety, and behavioral challenges when misunderstood. This workshop explores how play therapy can be a transformative approach for supporting highly sensitive children in feeling seen, safe, and empowered.

This interactive training will delve into the core traits of high sensitivity, how these children process their environments, and why traditional approaches may fall short. Through experiential learning, case examples, and practical techniques, participants will learn how to use play therapy to build trust, foster regulation, and support emotional expression.

Whether you’re new to play therapy or looking to deepen your practice with sensitive children, this workshop offers compassionate, evidence-informed tools to help children thrive.

Objectives:

  1. Learner will be able to identify highly sensitive traits and how they show up in the play room.

  2. Learners will be able to identify ways to set up a playroom, routines, and boundaries that promotes safety for the highly sensitive child.

  3. Learners will be able to identify play therapy techniques that honor sensitivity and promote resilience
